ECing & contests of the week.

Drea did a post the other day on ECing. I love it. I was supposed to get her a picture of Terri potting to go with her post. (I am too late as usual) BUT I did manage to capture Terri making number 2 today!! LOOK at that smile. :-D I can proudly say that I have only changed a poopey diaper 3x in two months!! (typically after nap)

I don't suggest googling dust mites- and then looking at the pictures. EWW! I would love to have mattress covers for all the beds in our house. I do have one on Terris crib. But I am need of a new one. It is OLD. Well 5 years old. I got it right before Mason was born. EWW think about all the mites on that. ::gag:: well at least I bleach it. SO STEPH sign me up! ;-)

Life Made Easier - A Review

I KNOW I'm not the only one...always looking for those "great products" that make our lives easier. AM I? Didn't think so. I have to say that one thing that LIVES with me at all times is my Mammas Milk Wipe Pack.

I love the sleekness of the wipe pack. It is especially GREAT while babywearing. I don't have to tote a huge diaper bag. I put my wipe pack and cloth diaper in a clean wet bag and stuff it in my sling or Mei Tai!!!!

Besides the fact that it is SOOOOO PRETTY...it REALLY does hold in the moisture! I loved it so much I got Andrea one for her birthday. I left the same wipes in there for two whole weeks and. . .they felt like they came straight from the store! LOVE IT! Highly suggest it! This is NOT one of those "for cloth diapering momma" things, everyone can enjoy a beautiful new wipe pack!

I will say this though, I DID get a package last week that contained my new CLOTH wipes! So I am converting!

BlogRush

As I pursued my naptime blogging today I went to Stephs blog and read about this new Blog Rush thing that she had just signed up for. The idea is that it will produce more blog hits. It is really no hassle, just go sign up HERE and it takes all of five minutes (or less if your smarter than me!)

Terri still uses the other 2 I have and she is MORE than 20lbs. She weighed 23lbs 2 months ago. I just want to sell these to get some longies! (Like Jessie got for her PiPer) TOO CUTE!

**UPDATE**

FYI....a Wool Soaker is a cover. I use basic "old school" prefolds and a SNAPPI and then cover it with a soaker. The WOOL does NOT NOT NOT leak! I SWEAR! I will only use wool at night! I do not use my BumGenius, Pocket Change or Bumkins...JUST wool at night! and when we are at home!!! The prefold/wool combo has stretched my diaper washing to just once a week. PLUS . . .you only have to hand wash the wool every couple weeks (2 or 3 depending) or if it gets poo on it.

I go by my FlyLady routine (example of HER routine...not mine) and I have special days of the week to do specific chores!!

Switching to Wool?

So of course you hear it from Drea first. . . I can never get a post up before she spills the beans! POO!

Yes I did get a really sweet package the other day! I have wanted to try wool since I started cloth diapering. At a the baby wearing group that me and Andrea go to in our local area I met Jessie (the really sweet woman that gave me the lavender Moby)...she also gave me alot of great advice about cloth diapering. When I told Jessie that I had a made an order for Bumgenius she told me that they were more work than prefolds and wool. I never imagined she could be so right! I just knew at the time that I had a very small budget to buy cloth diapers and I knew I blew it on the ones with all the bells and whistles!

I have been drooling over the nice wool soakers for months since then. I just can't afford it and I don't know how to knit. I know I know . . .I should have listened to my great grandma when she tried to teach me. I was young and basically stupid! I'm really interested in learning!!!! I need to get together some supplies . . .if anyone has extra {yarn needles (darning or tapestry needle), crochet hook size f, g, or h} please note...I'll take em! Whats up with a Bamboo needle? Do I need one of those? HELP! I'm clue less! Does anyone know of a really good self help book? Andreas mom offered to teach me...I'm definitely going to be taking her up on that offer~~when she has the time! I actually found a site that teaches you how to take an old wool sweater and make a wool soaker how cool is that! I want to know how to make afghans and baby blankies too! knitting? cloth diapering...momma? hmmm

So the package Jude sent me was sooOOOooooo nice!! I opened it and was in awe! Jude sent me this stuff because her eldest was cloth diapered and with her daughter she just didn't have the time! So she felt like they were gong to waste. YAY 4 ME!!! The package included 4 small Aristovcrats, a medium (I think) Aristocrat and a Pink Babyology with a monkey on the butt! (size small) since Terri isn't a fluffy baby she fits the smalls just fine. I would like to sell them eventually and get mediums.

To all of you that are weary of soakers and pins and snappies and leaking....listen up! I am a laid back momma . . .if she poops she poops...whatever. Poo doesn't bother me. Even thought the past few days there has been more that usual and I've missed (getting her to the potty) a few times. I put a soaker on her the other night with a good prefold (and really reasonably priced!) an insert (that I got on sale for a dollar!!) and a liner. Seem like a lot? Okay I was being cautious! I had never let a baby sleep in a soaker before. I didn't want anything to go thru.

So she woke up yesterday morning at 9:45(!!!!!) and was dry to the touch (the soaker that is) her insert and prefold were soaked!!! The liner was surprisingly still all together! I immediately had to call Andrea. . . "Your never gonna believe this!!!" So I changed her about 10 and by the time Andrea got here yesterday at 1:30 I had the same diaper on her just so she could see. I took the diaper off and vwalla (however you spell it) no leakage!!! I'm sold! I used the same soakers alternating them all day yesterday and last night! I'm sold!!! I will definitely be taking Jesse's advice and saving my BumGenius for "outings"!!!

If you are new to Cloth Diapering there are so many different ways to go...I've heard alot about different diapers leaking and certain ones being better for fluffy babies and ones that you shouldn't use for babies with thin thighs but I've never heard any complaints on WOOL!! I think I've been converted!! I do have this one suggestion. . .if you want good "thirsty" prefolds CLICK HERE! They are the best quality for a really low price!! If you want a really good "Flushable Liner" (It says flushable but its on you whatever you put in your septic system!!! ~warned!) CLICK HERE! And if you need a good absorbent (adjustable too) Insert CLICK HERE!!!

I will add this . . .If you are in need of some cheap (cost) diapers or covers go to Thirsties Outlet!! They might be seconds or slightly flawed but I've heard wonderful things about these products!! I see they have some flannel wipes and new diapers on sale...hmmm? flannel wipes and a purple diaper...oooOOooh

Andrea, her husband Travis and the boys all cam back yesterday and I made dinner. Which I must add that I will be giving her my recipe for my squash casserole (I've been trying to tell ya'll I'm country!~I'm in my 2O's and I make casseroles!) and even if you hate squash like Andrea claimed too you'll love this!
TIP: Great way to get picky eaters to eat veggies...smother it in cheese!

After they all went home Andrea came back to teach me how to use my new picture editing tool I just downloaded and we played a little with the pictures from yesterday.

Library reading time

This is gonna be a long one....consider your self warned. I'll switch to a smaller font so you don't feel like it's just dragging along...ohh ohh and I'll even change the font color to keep it interesting!!! (and I'll abbrev. some stuff too :-D)
Okay where to begin? Oh and Mason is on a playdate w/ Nic Nic. Terri is in the bed (she laid down for a nap~what? I can't help she was tired b4 her bedtime...just let me worry about that...k!)
Terri didn't wake up till 10:30 this morning and if your like me...then thats fine. Clint was soooo concerned and demanded that I call her pediatrician immediately. First off if you have a baby or have had one you know that they go through "growth spurts" and they tend to sleep thru these...if this is true IDK...but I do know that all children (and adults) have times were they want or need more sleep. Plus she wasn't feeling well for the past few days. So I get up....yes I was still in the bed...ahhh haaaa!! Mason was in his room trying to open his beady beeds (eyes) and I took advantage. {I didn't get to bed till 2 am w/ a SICK migraine!}
So I get to the pediatrician and she tells me the same thing that I told my hubby....she is getting over a cold and she is just a little extra tired. My ped. asked . . ."Does your hubby not want extra sleep every once in a while?. . .tell him to leave that baby alone, you know what your doing!"(she laughed!)

So one the way home from the dr. I stopped by the library. Mason is in this summer reading program where the kiddos have to read a certain amount of time (according to age group) and then at the 1/2 way and again at the end of there time they get a prize. Hey just for signing up they get a free desert at the Local Bob Evans. (this is a good incentive to actually go to B.E.)
ANd while we were @ the Lib. I dropped my camera ...crud crud crud!! I hope Clint doesn't notice the new click.....eeek! I'm glad he doesn't read my blog!

Mason is such a great big brother!!! Look at him reading to her...sorry I don't think Terri Jade {a.k.a.lil hoochie momma} has quite grasped the concept of sitting "lady like"! Nor has she grasped that we read books not hide behind them...Mason then pissed the librarian (they have all been there forever she is just really really really odd...very "shhhhhhhhhhhhhh" ish you know the one that is always like quiet quiet!!) off by banging on the plastic to get mew attention. What? I thought it was hilarious!

Notice the new cute pink SOLARVEIL???? huh? huh? did you? Well I also got a package today....from Jude the owner of Mamma Milk. Y A Y !!!! I love mail...except for bills!!! I will be doing a post on my mammas milk story in a day or so...got to have pictures or I can't review it duhhh!!! But I add this she is a very kind woman and I am so thankful I got to chat back and forth with her....she definitely is aimed to please!!!!
okay next. . .sorry let me add this...today was like Christmas!!!! I love Jude I love Jude! Sorry I had to do a little cheer for Jude (ith~lol). The after we get home and the kids get fed and laid down (or in Masons case . . .nap time is just an hour of quiet time...or alone time...w/ or w/o t/v/ his choice) I get a little computer time...check emails, look at a few blogs or start on my own. So I read that the Flip Flop Mom nominated me as a rockin blogger chick...YAY!!!!!



My first nomination!! She wrote "WHAT a super de duper fun loving BLOG this is... I don't know how I found her.. but I adore what she writes.. she is REAL.. She is HONEST.. one of the two best qualities a person can have!!! She loves up on her kids.. and shares the joys of her little ones moments.. my little ones are much bigger.. so I LOVE peeking into her southern world.. and seeing little ones again.. I blessed that she share them with us.. and I'm sure you would feel the same!!" How sweet is she? If she only knew....MWAAHHH HA HA HA HA!! Don't get her confused with the FlipFlop Momma.
(Who is also in my blog roll) So I love to be nominated for stuff so ::@hem:: ya know if you want to nominate like the most rockiness mom with the worst punctuation...I'll be a candidate!! Speaking of Flip Flop Momma she is having her first official give away!! Kudos!! I'm sure she is super stoaked!! She is giving away a Winnie the Pooh DVD...I would love to have that. I haven't seen Winnie the Pooh in ...days...LOL Oh you thought I wanted it for the kids? ahhh ha ha...of course I do...not! No I'm so one of those moms that watches movies with the kids. OUr 52" LCD (ohh I felt so cool saying that) is only used for cartoons how funny is that? I know I know...oh and the occasional DVR G.H.!!!! (die hard fan!)
Okay Okay I'm wrapping up...but I do want to say that 2 months ago my blog had only like 17 views of my profile and today I just happened to notice that I hit the 1000 mark! Congrats to me! I just downloaded (dont' tell CLint~~~ he thinks that more than 100 pictures will crash our computer...we've got a few hundred!)a new picture editing called Gimp so I'll let you know how long it takes to figure it out! I'm on my way to digital scrapbooking!

Ahhhh the joys of cloth diapering

Clint decided last night that he wanted to go out to eat . . . .last minute! I'm talking taking a shower at 9:OO and him saying "lets go out". Now for the normal person (without kids) this would be fine. Now on the other hand when you've got two kids this kind of thing typically needs to be planned!
So I tell him as nicely as I can that "I'm gonna need a few minutes". For the first time in I don't know how long my husband says "thats fine, take your time"....what? really? Are you sure?
Most of the time when Clint says he's hungry it is sort of a (I'm only seeing a bull race/fight in my mind) rush. I have to literately jump in some clothes, grab a kid or two under my arms and a diaper in my teeth and RUN to the car. Are you visualizing THIS hungry? Yea you'd be rushing too!

So I get all purdied up and out the door we go...if your wondering....yes we had to wake Terri Jade up. (Mason was at his paw paws!~that boy loves his paw paw . . .I need to do a post about their special bond! ::mental note::) Terri as soon as she got up was a lil cranky...as SOON as she saw her car seat(her new big girl car seat) she leaped! NO lie she jumps for it.

We get to the restaurant (O'charleys...yum) and she is "talking" to everyone...cocking her little head back and cheezin (note to self: Have to "capture" this new pose of her for my blog readers)
she is truly in the best mood...considering she didn't feel good all day yesterday. (Yes Wendy Motrin is the BOMB!) SHe is chowing down on some bread, while order. She is making her little "ooooowe oooowe " noise to get our attention for some tea. (I have to almost physically restrain Clint.) Then he asks the waitress for a "kids SPRITE" "WHat? Have you lost your mind?" This is the second or third time my husband has ordered a SPRITE for our (now) 1YO!!!!!Then I changed his order to a water....moron! HE looks at me with the face like..."you think your the greatest mom and I'm a moron don't you". . . .actually. . .te he!! He said "you've ordered her sprite before" "excuse me...I don't know who you've been "out" with with our daughter but I've never!!!" (I have given her sips before....)

But before our waitress brings the water..."err errrr " I look at him, he looks at her...she looks at me...I grab her.... "Clint says let poop, she wants to do it here" While I'm running to the bathroom I am yelling back "I don't care what she wants" I know people were thinking I was a nut case...but I knew in the back of my head that I had a diaper bag with the possibility of no wipes, and her last poop yesterday was almost water. {For those of you that don't know I'm ECing/ infant potty training...I haven't had to change a poopey ...maybe 3x in three weeks!!!} So I get to the bathroom, drop her pants in time to see IT...MAN! I'm too late...and yes it was diarrhea and I had no diaper bag and nooooo wipes. I had to stand her up and try to wipe her butt...while not getting poo all over me...AHHHHH! Women listen and visualize this...your hubby do this while your in the restaurant without a care in the world stuffing your face! I went to the car and did what I had to do.....did I mention that in order to get her to the car....I had to take the liner out of the diaper and lay it on the poo to put it back on her to get her to the car. EWWW!

Today . . . .Clint and myself were making the bed (yes he was helping me~~awe~~)
we heard the "aaaa aaaaaa oouieee oouuie!!" by the time Clint got in there I heard him scream....yes scream...."BABE GET IN HERE NOW . . ." I walked toward her room to be knocked over by the stench of poo lingering down the hall. Terri was standing up butt naked with a crib that looked as if she had wollered around in poop! Yes in the south wollered is a word! It was awful!! She had it on her crib...hands hair...everywhere. I took her Clint took the crib. I had her in the tub and most of the fragments of poop rinsed down the drain then I yelled "SWITCH" I don't think I had stood up by the time Clint was in the bathroom. It was sooo gross! I mean really really really gross! She was just as happy as she could be..."like ha ha that was fun"

Ahh the benefits of cloth diapering....no throwing away them nasty diarrhea diapers. Ohh and I'll confess I switched to disposable today!

You know the only thing to make me feel better right now....ice cream and contests! Adventures in Baby wearing is giving away a Podonbutai (its a combination of a Korean Podegai, Japanese Onbuhimo, and the Asian Mei Tai.) from All Natural Babies in the fabric of your choice. How cool is that?

oh andf a rocking t shirt...if only they had a Janis Joplin shirt. Terri can kick her foot in perfect harmony to "Piece of my heart" . . .I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!! (I'm such an inner rockstar!!!!)

Free Cloth diaper? hmmmm . . .

As many of you know I use cloth diapers. I only own BumGenius thus far (10)... I'm hoping to try some "Pocket Change Diapers" from Montana's Diaper Store. I bought my Bumgenius through a SECONDS sale. Montana is having a second sale going on right now. By seconds sale It just means there is a slight stitching flaw. . .or vanity type flaw. Nothing that would affect the actual diapers performance. Its mostly just a "looks" issue. :-) Which doesn't bother me at all! Each diaper is $11.00 which is really inexpensive for nice Cloth Diapers.

I own some prefolds and I hope to get a few covers. I still can't CONvince Clint to buy any so I have to scrimp up some $$$ however I can!

But I've heard great things about the pocket change. The best thing is they don't have to have the liners pulled out after being pee'd or pooped in. :-) I LOVE THIS FEATURE!!!!!!!! They have openings on both ends.. so the liners come out on their own.

Plus Plus Plus . . .they have more than just pink or yellow (which is the only drawback of the bumgenius!)

If your new to cloth diapering {like myself} You wanna try to figure out all the "tricks"!! Well I think this new cat taught an old dog some new tricks!!! GEEEZ ::slaps forehead:: I just sounded as lame as I could have ever possibly sounded!

ANYwho Me and Drea were on the phone yesterday and somehow got on the subject of wash day. In this case I'm talking about washing our cloth diapers, not just regular ol laundry.

["Hey Andrea are you doing your towels? Don't forget to add your fabric softener" I'm laughing~I hope you found the humor in that!!]

Well I think I asked her if she dried her diapers in the dryer. (yes she does) I told her how I hang mine. She (Obviously) ;-D thought it was a good idea! Because last night we were IMing about what our post was gonna be today and she sent me the link to a picture of all her diapers hung!!! HOW FUNNY!! I know what all of you are thinking . . . "I stole her post idea!!" I'm a dirty blog idea stealing diaper hangin momma!!! MWAHHHH HA HA HA HA I promise I wasn't gonna write about this or at least just a picture or two but Ya'll know how I run off on tangents.

or Lemon Pinesol !!!(and then rinse out the pinesol of course)

Clints number one concern when we got cloth was too much upkeep and "the smell" of a nursing home! Well if I hadn't of told him he probably would have never known. But i do need a good wet bag.

First Poo

I got my BumGenius yesterday, and Like most women I rushed to do my prewashing!! Well this morning I was so excited to use them. Terri by noon had "used" her first one. A short while after lunch she crawled to my feet and "err errr eeeeeeeerrrr" I know what that meant. . .I picked her up and R A N her to the bathroom. {Yes to the potty!} She has already "used the potty" a few times. Well as I sat with her it only took a second and *plooop* (she went) YAY she didn't waste this pretty pink diaper. LOL I would be this excited about her not wasting a pampers also. I mean any chance to not waste a diaper is GREAT! so laaa-dy laa I'm moving about the house and doing my regular routine (chaos cleaning~always) and *sniff sniff* what do I smell? OHH NO I hope the dog farted!!!
